Settings:
In the Vale of the Unicorns
Early in the morning, before dawn
Spring; Rainy weather
Characters Needed:
Korr- Black, just like his son. He is the King of the Unicorns, but he only rules over the herd during times of peace.
Ses- Jan and Lilly’s dam and Korr’s mate. She is cream colored with an amber mane and tail.
Lilly- A young filly, about a year old.
Tek- Jan’s mate, Dagg's shoulder-friend, and fellow warrior. She is a black and rose paint.
Dagg- Jan’s shoulder-friend and fellow warrior. He is pale yellow and dappled with grey.
Other Warriors (Made-up) Teki- Black and white paint, the healer of the herd. Other Info:
The unicorns are at war with the gryphons and wyvrens. The gryphons ride spring storms from the mountains, southeast of the vale, to steal colts and fillies to feed to their newly-hatched chicks. But soon the initiates ((oldest foals, about four years old, ready to become warriors and join the Circle of the Unicorns)) will travel with the Prince of the Unicorns to the Mirror of the Moon. (That is where the wyvrens live, but they are still asleep.) There, Alma, their goddess, will allow them to see their destiny in the pool, a rite of passage for all who wish to join the Circle of the Unicorns. Note: This is a SERIOUS unicorn rp. No 'my little pony' characters.

Alone on the grassy lookout knoll, watching the spring storms roll over the plains, the Prince of the Unicorns shifted his stance uneasily. He shook his bearded, horned head as fly bit his neck. Pawing the ground with one cloven hoof uneasily. He narrowed his eyes, trying to see farther.
The prince's pelt was the shade of night, so said the prophecy. He also was the first prince to have the same pelt as his sire. That hasn’t happened in four hundred summers. The Firebringer also had a crescent moon upon his brow, and a star on his heel. The Firebringer was supposed to lead his people back to their ancestral home, and win it back form the wyvrens.
Jan shook the forelock out of his eyes, the crescent moon showing. He swatted at his haunch as another fly bit him.

A stallion of about the black unicorn's age trotted up to him, looking rather disguntled as the wind played carelessly with his long mane and curled beard. Lifting his horn to the sky, Dagg nickered softly to get his friend's attention. Jan, he said softly, ears pricked forward both in alertness and in amiable recognition of his friend. Bit of a windy place to do your thinking, I'd say. He looked to the grass, noting the star marking upon his companion's heel as he did so. Then again, I'd be thinking, too, if I was in your spot.
A slight smile graced his finely-chiseled features as Dagg looked up again, his gray-dappled coat shining in the faint light that filled the Vale before sunrise. Clouds rolled swiftly in from the west, seemingly trying to overtake the sun's arrival. Soon enough, as Dagg lowered his head to graze, a light rain drizzled down from the heavens. The stallion snorted, looking up at the sky with a wry grin. At least this will keep the flies away.

Jan laughed, shaking his head.
"Friend, have you forgotten? I an on duty. The storm is coming fast. If gryphons ride with the warm air, I need to know."
He chuckled at his friend's forgetful mind.
"Don't fret, Dagg. We're all...forgetting our heads. We're a few suns away from the Pilgrimage."
He smiled. He had not yet said whitch warriors he wanted to accompany him,but Dagg knew he and Tek would come along. They did last year, and the year when they first went as initiates. It had become a tradition, although it was still young, for them to go along. Plus, Tek was Jan's mate, and Dagg his best friend. He couldn't not bring them along.

Hmm? He mumbled, nibbling still at the greener morsels of vegetation. At the mention of gryphons, however, the stallion’s wit returned to him, and with a nod of assent Dagg lifted his head to study his companion. Better safe than sorry with that lot around, he answered, his eyes flicking warily up to scan the misting skies almost accusingly. The buggers.
Then, with a light laugh, the unicorn tossed his mane to one side and lifted his skull so that it was level with Jan’s. The Pilgrimage…already he could see the two of them traveling together. Well, the three of them. Tek would snap her horn if they forget to take her. Besides, Jan and the mare were together, and therefore it was almost mandatory that she come along. Dagg twitched his lips in a faint smile. It was a journey to look forward to, indeed.

(Heather, I'll post more after I have you read the books so I can freely talk about what is/has happening/happened. I'll bring them to school.)

(I'm up to the bit where Jan is about to battle the wyvern who killed Halla's father. You know, the mistress of mysteries? So, is that far enough, or shall I continue and finish the first book?)
